In this tutorial you will learn how to make an nice and simple 3D pixel text with reflection.
This tutorial is similar to our first 3D text effect.
But, on visitors request I made this one…
1. Open up a new document. 400 x 400 pixels.
2. By using Horizontal Type Tool (T) write some text. Fill it with some color.
I used #6F0000, font Impact, size 72.
3. Copy this text layer now. Fill it with another color. I used #FF0000.
Ok, now Rasterize this layer. Layer -> Rasterize -> Layer.
Press V to select your Move Tool.
4. Hold ALT pressed and with other hand press up arrow, then right arrow, again up arrow, right arrow.
Repeat this 10 times. DO NOT LET ALT OFF. Keep ALT pressed all the time.
This is what I got.
5. In layers window, you a lot of your rasterized text layers.
we will deal with that now. Make layer background and original text layer invisible.
Then press SHIFT + CTRL + E to merge all visible layers.
Now you should have three layers. Background, original text layer and rasterized text layer.
Ok. Now add following layer styles to your rasterized text layer.
Stroke
Drop Shadow
Cool isn’t it?
Let’s add a reflection.
First, merge your original text layer and rasterized text layer.
6. In step 5 at the end you’ve created a new layer by merging two text layers together. Now you have only background layer and text layer.
Ok?
Copy your text layer. Right click on it in layers window and “Clear layer styles”.
Now go to our “Web 2.0 text with reflection” to learn how to add a reflection to text and apply it for this text.
You can get a lot better effect if you’re playing with background a little…
